31 STEPS
1. The first step is to open a web browser and visit USIMS website. Start here.
2. If you registered with the (SSO) Single Sign-On option, please click the button to use your Microsoft or Google Account
3. If you previously registered a USIMS account because you did not have a Microsoft or Google Account to use, please enter your email address and USIMS password, then click Sign in
4. You are now on the Educator Licensing Portal in USIMS. Please allow a few moments for the system to determine what task items need to be completed.
5. At this point, you have one task item that is not started, indicated by the yellow flag next to the item.
6. Click on Personal Info
7. The first section asks for you to provide your Legal Name. Fields with an asterisk are required.
8. Click First Name* and type in your first name.
9. Click Middle Name and type in your middle name.
10. Click Last Name* and type in your last name.
11. The next section asks for you to specify your Gender.
12. Select Gender identity.
13. The next section asks for you to provide your Contact Information including mailing address, phone number, and email address.
14. Select and type in your Street Address
15. Select and type in your second line of your Street Address (not required).
16. Select and type in your City.
17. Click State and select your State from the list.
18. Click Zip/Postal Code and type in your zip code/postal code.
19. Click Phone Number and type in your phone number.
20. Click Email and type in your email address.
21. The next section asks for you to specify your Race/Ethnicity.
22. Under the Race/Ethnicity, please choose one of the options "My race/ethnicity is..." or "I prefer not to answer."
23. Click any or all of the boxes to specify which Race and Ethnicity apply to you. If you prefer not to answer, select the other radio button labeled "I prefer not to answer."
24. The final section on this task is asking you to specify whether or not you are currently enrolled in a Utah University-Based Teacher Educator Program to earn a license. Click Utah Teacher Education Program
25. If you are enrolled in a teacher education program, please select a higher education institution from the drop down box.
Please note: if you are enrolled in a program based outside the state of Utah, or an Alternate Pathway, click "no."
26. Select The University you are attending.
27. Now that you have answered all the questions for this task, click Save.
28. You are now back at the Home Dashboard for Educator Licensing in USIMS.
29. That's it. You're done. The task item has now moved to the lower half of the Educator License Portal Dashboard, and shows as completed. No further action is needed for this particular task.
30. Note: you can always revisit this task item and update some information at any time.
31. At any time, click Personal Information to update your Contact information such as email, address, or phone number.
When you hover over this task, it turns blue, indicating you can click to enter, and edit the task.
